My views of the martial arts represent my philosophy of life, and my life specifically. I write here to in the martial arts.
I work with my students by building first, their foundation through the basics of the martial arts. The foundation is the strength of the system. One must always practice their basics because the basics are the foundation and the foundation is the strength, so that in the future one would have developed fighting power.
Sticking close to the root of the tree, the instructor and the system are where the treasure is present in. The essence, honor and respect your instructor and your system. See yourself as you really are, and avoid self-conceit. In this manner you will grow like a huge oak tree. So to my martial arts brother, continue to grow and excel through discipline and dedication.
It was always mentioned by the masters of old “that one should master katas.” Why? Because it is the life of your art, there are secrets to be discovered in the katas. In katas there are three stages: the set stage, moving stage and the creating stage. The creating level is the highest level of training. One can only reach this level if they begin at the set stage, with the basics building their strength from the foundation up. This will secure the building of a strong martial artist.
The fruit of my tree is bearing through the development of my art but can best be seen now by my students. They will carry on the legend of “Four Winds of Kung Fu” and the Bai Sung Institute. The system is rich in rewards for those who want to work hard to achieve those rewards.
